Energy Design Assistance helps you compare whole-building designs for a new building, major renovation or addition. Free design meetings use energy modelling to compare how much electricity different designs would use.
The performance incentive is US$0.45 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), a unit of electricity saved, with savings verified by the PUD. All-electric facilities have a 25% bonus. Facilities with at least 51% certified income-qualified units have a 50% bonus.
After the project is built, the programme verifies that it follows the agreed design and issues a verification report. Snohomish PUD then provides the incentive for the completed project.
Eligibility
- You must be a Snohomish PUD customer planning a commercial, industrial or multifamily building project. Examples include offices, medical facilities, schools and apartment buildings. The PUD electricity service territory covers Snohomish County and Camano Island in Washington.
- The project must be a new building, major renovation or addition. Standard EDA requires more than 50,000 square feet; multifamily projects must have at least four units. Projects between 5,000 and 50,000 square feet are reviewed as candidates for Express EDA.
- Your design must exceed the energy code applicable to the building permit by at least 10%. Every project needs preapproval, and the PUD verifies all savings.
- Engage the programme before construction starts. The programme flyer identifies equipment already purchased and occupancy as too late for participation.
