Heavy-rain and flood-protection grant

City of EschbornDuitsland

Property owners and other property-right holders in Eschborn or Niederhöchstadt can get grants for expert flood-risk advice and recommended mobile barriers.

Deze mogelijkheid is momenteel in het Engels beschikbaar.

Start with an assessment by a qualified, independent specialist office. The city covers consultation costs up to €1,000. The office must produce a report recommending suitable protection measures for your property.

This entry covers that advice and mobile systems, such as removable flood panels or stop logs protecting entrances and windows. Have a specialist firm carry out the recommended protection measures. For each recommended measure, the grant covers up to 50% of material and delivery costs and labour by a specialist firm, capped at €1,000 per measure. The rules set an overall €5,000 limit for protection measures. The programme also supports other types of protection.

Voorwaarden voor deze aanvraagronde
  • Applications for flood-protection measures remain possible; awards depend on available budget.

Apply to the City of Eschborn through its online flood-protection application before starting. Do not award contracts or begin work until approval; planning work is excepted. An early start is possible only with permission obtained after applying.

For protection measures, include the consultation report’s planned measures, a site plan, technical drawing, description of how the system works and cost estimate. Explain why alternative measures listed in §§3.2–3.7 would be unsuitable or less suitable. Follow the additional application and measure information referred to in the rules’ annex. Read the linked rules before applying. A further application for the same building must wait until the previous application is completed and paid. If documents are still incomplete when revised rules take effect, submit a new application under those rules.

The city’s municipal executive (Magistrat) decides in the order complete applications arrive; applying is free. Funding remains subject to available budget and is not a legal entitlement. Complete approved work within 12 months of approval unless an extension is authorised.

After completion, submit the payment form sent with approval, including bank details, and a copy of the original invoice; supply the original if requested. The city and Main-Taunus district audit service may check use of the money, and you must allow city-appointed inspectors access on site. Incorrect information can lead to withdrawal of approval; payments already made must then be repaid.

The city’s energy advice service handles application questions at energieberatung@eschborn.de or 06196 490 590.
