Residential Weatherization Program

Idaho Falls PowerIdaho

Zero-interest loans for qualifying Idaho Falls Power customers to install insulation or replacement windows in electrically heated homes.

Deze mogelijkheid is momenteel in het Engels beschikbaar.

Borrow for qualifying attic, floor or wall insulation and replacement windows through the Residential Weatherization Program. The loan is offered instead of a rebate. Single-family, multifamily and manufactured homes can participate, although manufactured homes qualify for limited measures.

The loan charges no interest, has a $25 administration fee and gives you up to 60 months to repay. Idaho Falls Power determines the amount it will finance after reviewing your contractor bids. After the completed work passes inspection, it pays the contractor the allowable amount. You pay the contractor any cost above the loan limit, then repay the amount paid by the utility in equal monthly instalments on your utility bill.

Eligibility

  • The home must receive electricity from Idaho Falls Power and have permanently installed electric heat. Owner-occupied homes and rental units can participate with the owner’s signed permission.
  • You need at least one year of City utility payment history and no late payments to the City in the last 12 months. Your payment record must also have no outstanding current balance, disconnections for nonpayment or delinquencies. The building owner must sign permission to participate.
  • Arrange the free home energy consultation first. Energy Services must assess eligibility before you buy or install replacement windows; the consultation also assesses your insulation and recommends improvements.
  • Existing windows must be single-pane, with or without storm windows, or double-pane, with any frame type. Replacement windows must have a U-factor of 0.30 or less, the programme’s measure of heat transfer.
  • Wall insulation is available only where the home has no existing wall insulation. Ask Energy Services which measures qualify for a manufactured home during the consultation.

If you move, ownership changes or you miss payments for three months, the entire remaining balance becomes due immediately. A delinquent account can also lead to disconnection of your electric service.

  • Start by calling Energy Services on 208-612-8430 for a free consultation. At least one year of utility payment history and the programme’s good-payment conditions apply.

Call Idaho Falls Power Energy Services on 208-612-8430 to arrange the free consultation before purchasing or installing the improvements.

For the contractor route, choose the recommended measures you want to complete, select contractors from the City’s approved installers list and obtain bids; two bids are recommended. Arrange a bid review with Idaho Falls Power so it can determine the financing and issue a Notice to Proceed before you tell the installer to carry out the work. Once the work is finished, contact Idaho Falls Power to arrange an inspection. It then pays the allowable amount to the contractor and adds your monthly repayment as a separate line on the utility bill, payable with your regular utility payment.
