Solar panels and battery storage grant

Stadt SchwandorfNiemcy700 EURzamyka się 31 gru 2027

Grants for adult residents installing rooftop or balcony solar panels together with a new battery in Schwandorf.

Ta możliwość jest obecnie dostępna po angielsku.

For rooftop solar, you can receive €700 for a new system of at least 4 kWp (the panels’ rated peak output) together with a new battery of at least 4 kWh. An extension adding at least 4 kWp to an existing system with a new battery also qualifies. The combined solar-and-battery purchase with an electric-car charging wallbox receives €800.

For balcony or plug-in solar, the combined purchase must have at least 800 Wp of panel output and a battery of at least 1,000 Wh (1 kWh). The grant covers 15% of the combined new purchase, up to €180.

The annual budgets are €20,000 for rooftop systems and €10,000 for balcony systems. Complete applications are processed in postal arrival order, subject to available funds and approval of the municipal budget. There is no entitlement to a grant; no further awards are made that year if demand exceeds its budget. Other public grants can be combined with this support.

Eligibility

This page covers the private-person solar routes. You must be at least 18 and have your principal residence in Schwandorf. Businesses and commercial operations cannot apply. Only one building-related application is allowed per building.

  • Rooftop panels must be fixed on a residential building or an adjoining structure connected to it, such as a garage or carport, within Schwandorf. The system must connect to the electricity grid. Ground-mounted systems, used panels, commercial installations and installations on non-residential buildings are excluded for this private route. A battery or wallbox bought on its own does not qualify.
  • Balcony solar may serve your own home or a rented home, but the installation must be in Schwandorf and grid-connected. Ground-mounted systems, used equipment, rented or leased solar installations, off-grid systems and purchases of only panels or only a battery are excluded.
  • The installation must comply with applicable laws and Schwandorf’s planning and design rules.

Keep the funded equipment operating at the same location for at least five years from submission of the complete completion report. Do not sell or permanently transfer it during this period. If balcony solar stops operating within the five years, you must repay the grant. The city may reclaim grants if functioning equipment cannot be demonstrated, or if technically repairable equipment is neither repaired nor replaced with an equivalent product. Report material changes such as irreparable damage, theft or required removal immediately; the city may require proportional repayment. False statements or misuse lead to cancellation of the award.

  • Applications are accepted by post while annual funds remain. Current rules are valid through 31 December 2027. Approval depends on the municipal budget.

Download the application form and post the completed application to Klimaschutzmanagement der Stadt Schwandorf, Spitalgarten 1, 92421 Schwandorf.
