Energy systems optimisation
Co-funding for large energy users in New Zealand to tune existing equipment and controls, cutting energy use and emissions.
Esta oportunidade está atualmente disponível em inglês.
Pay for experts to tune and calibrate your existing on-site energy systems. Supported work can include heating, ventilation and air conditioning; lighting; building management systems; supervisory control and data acquisition systems; process heat such as boilers, furnaces, steam and hot water; compressed air; refrigeration; and pumps and motors. Software optimisation can also be included.
EECA can fund up to 40% of the cost of optimising an energy system, capped at NZ$100,000. It lists an indicative minimum investment of NZ$30,000. The service focuses on improving controls and operations to meet the facility’s existing needs.
Eligibility
- Your business or public-sector organisation must be registered in New Zealand and spend more than NZ$3 million a year on stationary energy: energy used in fixed locations.
- Projects with a payback period of less than two years are ineligible: this means the energy savings recover the project cost in under two years.
- Full co-funding depends on your project delivering an agreed level of energy savings. Discuss the savings requirement for your project with EECA.
The registered service provider must sign an agreement with you covering the work, project cost and payment terms, including a guarantee to achieve at least 50% of the agreed Energy Savings Target by the end of the agreed Guarantee Period. The provider must measure savings against baseline energy consumption using the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP), for a period at least as long as the guarantee period. It must give you a report of the opportunities, estimated benefits and measured outcomes; for co-funded projects, it also provides the report to EECA.

Contact your EECA Regional Manager to discuss the project, or email business@eeca.govt.nz. Use EECA’s approved service-provider list to find a provider matching your needs. Under the service guidelines, the provider assesses whether your site and processes are suitable, sets the project scope, and prepares a quotation with milestones, timescales, costs and measurement of energy savings.
