Grant for removing sealed surfaces
Property owners can receive up to €500 to remove gravel gardens or replace sealed private surfaces with natural landscaping in Hambrücken.

The grant supports a connected area of at least 10 m², for example replacing a sealed courtyard with a natural garden. It aims to improve local cooling, rainwater infiltration and adaptation to climate change.
The municipality covers actual eligible costs up to €500 per property, for one measure only. Your own labour is excluded. Payment follows completion, demonstrated through a municipal inspection or photographs.
The total programme budget is €20,000. Funding is discretionary even if you meet the conditions. If demand exceeds the budget, earlier applications take priority; applications received at the same time share the remaining funds proportionately.
Eligibility
- You must be an individual or legal entity that owns the property. The private surfaces must be within Hambrücken and the connected area must be at least 10 m².
- Apply before starting the work. Placing an order with a contractor already counts as starting; work already started or completed when you apply is excluded.
- Obtain any necessary public or private permissions and comply with building and planning rules.
- If you substantially change the funded work or seal the surfaces again within ten years after implementation, the municipality may revoke the award and demand repayment, deciding case by case.
- Breaching the rules or obtaining the grant through false information leads to revocation and repayment. Paid funds become repayable upon revocation, with annual interest from that point at five percentage points above the base rate under section 247 of the German Civil Code.

- Register and fully complete the work, and draw the funding, by 30 June 2027. Undrawn awards lapse, including approved grants.
Submit the municipality’s written application form to Gemeindeverwaltung Hambrücken, Fachbereich Bauen und Umwelt, Hauptstraße 108, 76707 Hambrücken. You can download the form or collect it from room 54 at the town hall. Include a contractor’s quotation or cost estimate; if doing the work yourself, include a list of planned costs.
The municipality issues an approval stating the expected grant once the complete application meets the conditions. Payment is made to your nominated account after all work is completed and evidenced.
By 30 June 2027, the measure must be registered and fully completed, and the funding must have been drawn from the municipality. Undrawn funding lapses on that date, including grants already approved.
