Rainwater cistern subsidy for garden irrigation
Private-property water customers in Herford, Hiddenhausen and Spenge can receive €50 per m³ of rainwater storage for garden irrigation, credited to their water bill.
Cette fiche est actuellement disponible en anglais.
This entry covers rainwater cisterns used for garden irrigation. Collecting rainwater for watering gardens conserves drinking water; Stadtwerke Herford links water conservation to the effects of climate change on drinking-water supply.
The subsidy is €50 per m³ of storage capacity, including VAT. It is awarded per tank and credited to the next annual bill under your water-supply contract. Several tanks on the same property can receive support.
Eligibility
- Build the cistern on your private property in Herford, Hiddenhausen or Spenge. The property must be connected to the public water supply.
- You must enter a water-supply contract with Stadtwerke Herford. If you already have one, the subsidy is settled through that contract.
- Flat and round rainwater tanks with a capacity of 3–10 m³ qualify. Every tank must hold at least 3 m³; other installations are excluded.
- Attach an installer’s confirmation that the cistern meets all technical construction rules.
