Climate premium

Municipality of AvelgemFlandre

A municipal grant for individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, service businesses and schools installing a permanent green roof in Avelgem.

Cette fiche est actuellement disponible en anglais.

This route supports an extensive green roof: a roof with low-growing plants such as succulents, herbs and short grasses that can store at least 20 litres of rainwater per square metre.

The grant pays €25 per square metre of installed roof, from a minimum roof area of 6 m². It cannot exceed the actual installation cost evidenced by an invoice or purchase receipt, or €1,000 per address during one municipal council term. The 6 m² threshold corresponds to €150 before applying the actual-cost limit. For multi-unit homes, the claim can be calculated according to the number of dwellings directly beneath the roof.

Awards depend on the available municipal budget. Avelgem can change or end the rules without prior notice.

Eligibility

  • The permanent roof must be in Avelgem. Individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, service businesses and schools are eligible.
  • Applicants include owners of the relevant property and tenants of a dwelling or housing unit who have written permission from its owner. In buildings with compulsory co-ownership, the owners’ association claims for common parts; the individual owner, tenant or usufructuary (a person with a legal right to use the property) claims for private parts.
  • Across the entire planted area, the roof must have a root-resistant layer, a substrate layer at least 6 cm thick and a vegetation layer; a flat roof also needs a drainage layer. Use low-growing plants such as succulents, herbs or short grasses, with rainwater storage of at least 20 litres/m².
  • You are responsible for the building’s structural condition and its ability to carry the roof. If an environmental permit is required for the green roof, it must have been obtained before a grant can be awarded.
  • You must keep the roof in good condition for at least ten years and repair failed planting.
  • A roof required by a municipal, provincial or regional regulation is excluded.
