Energy grants

Municipality of Bütschwil-GanterschwilSuisse

Grants help building owners in Bütschwil-Ganterschwil install solar panels or solar batteries and replace windows.

Cette fiche est actuellement disponible en anglais.

The municipal energy programme supports these improvements to buildings in Bütschwil-Ganterschwil:

  • New photovoltaic systems on new or existing buildings receive CHF 200 per kilowatt-peak (kWp, the system’s rated peak output), up to CHF 2,000. They must be fixed roof or façade installations with non-reflective modules; ground-mounted systems are excluded.
  • The first installation of a battery storing your own solar electricity receives CHF 2,000. Storage capacity must be at least 3 kilowatt-hours (kWh), with funding limited to one installation per dwelling.
  • Replacing windows in an existing building receives CHF 2,000. The glazing must have a U-value of no more than 0.7 W/(m²K), a measure of heat passing through the glass. All windows of the property must be replaced; any windows already replaced must be no more than ten years old.

Total municipal support is limited to CHF 7,000 per residential building, owner and year. The municipality pays the grant once you have submitted the full project completion documentation.

Eligibility

You must be a private building owner or a building-owning legal person under the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR) or Civil Code (ZGB). Public-law legal persons, such as a municipality, cannot receive this municipal support.

Apply before any work starts. Complete the funded project within two years of the grant approval decision or the promised grant expires. You can request a one-year extension in writing.

There is no legal entitlement to support. Applications are processed in order of receipt within the municipal budget. If funds run out, applications go onto a waiting list for available funding in the following year. The list is deleted if the budget is exhausted and no longer replenished.

The completed work may be inspected. If you do not comply with the funding conditions, inspection costs may be deducted from the grant or the grant may be cancelled.

After completion, submit the full project completion documentation for payment by the municipal finance administration. Energieagentur St. Gallen issues the funding decision; the rules state that its decision is final. The municipality handles administration itself if the agency provides services eligible for a grant or is itself an applicant.
