Green Accelerator
Grants help established Danish companies prepare overseas sales of proven green solutions, including clean energy, energy efficiency and climate adaptation.
Cette fiche est actuellement disponible en anglais.
The grant pays for work needed to overcome specific barriers to an export order: for example, feasibility studies, legal advice, training for customers and events aimed at identified decision-makers. It supports solutions already developed and tested, such as renewable energy, energy storage and energy-saving technology for buildings.
A single company can receive 70% of eligible costs, up to DKK 2.25 million. An alliance of companies can receive 80%, up to DKK 5 million for the project and DKK 2.25 million per company. The minimum project grant is DKK 300,000. Applicants contribute the remaining 30% or 20% respectively. Taxes, duties and budget overruns are your responsibility.
EIFO reimburses expenses after the work is complete and it has approved the required reports; there is no advance payment. Each company's available grant is also limited by the EU de minimis ceiling of €300,000 in this category of public aid over a rolling three-year period, counting other de minimis support. For an alliance, EIFO normally records the full award against the lead company unless a different allocation is specified before or at award.
Eligibility
- Apply as a small or medium-sized company under the EU definition, or as an alliance of at least two companies including at least one such company. Every applicant must have been registered in Denmark for at least three years and document staff equivalent to at least five full-time posts in its latest audited annual report. The single applicant or alliance lead must document turnover above DKK 10 million and exports above DKK 5 million in the latest financial year.
- The solution must be proven, ready for sale and meet the programme's green criteria. Identify prospective customers and demonstrate credible potential for export orders worth at least ten times the grant over a 24-month period. Export destinations have no geographical restriction, but EIFO assesses country and buyer risk. Prior activity in that export market is not required.
- Every applicant must pass EIFO's checks of environmental, social and governance practices and business reputation. EIFO also screens the solution for significant environmental harm and checks consultants' compliance and business integrity.
- Initial general market research, development of demonstration equipment, construction, infrastructure, patent approval, ordinary broad sales promotion and operating costs are excluded. Trade fairs must be part of a wider plan to overcome export barriers. A demonstration showing that an already fully proven solution works in the target market can qualify; developing a new advisory service or partnership cannot.
- Internal wages are excluded except project management, limited to 10% of the project budget. Products directly needed for approved activities may account for at most 30%; purchases from alliance members or closely associated companies must be at cost, without profit or development costs. Eligible travel is economy class under Danish government rules; meals and drinks are excluded. The same costs cannot also be funded by another grant.
- Activities must start within six months of the grant commitment and are subject to a 12-month completion limit and the timetable in the grant agreement. Alliance members share responsibility for all contractual obligations: EIFO can hold any member responsible for the whole obligation. Failure to meet the grant agreement can lead to repayment; failing to achieve the expected export orders alone does not.

The planned September 2026 intake has not opened. Check EIFO's programme page for its announcement about the round. When applications are invited, the single applicant or alliance lead applies through SmartME in English, with financial figures in DKK; other submission channels are not accepted.
Submit the proposal, timetable, budget and latest audited annual accounts. Provide separate turnover and export evidence if the accounts do not contain it. An alliance needs a signed memorandum confirming its members' agreement to form the alliance and apply. Every applicant, including each alliance member, must supply a de minimis declaration confirming that the aid ceiling will not be exceeded.
Recipients submit a midterm report within six months of project start, completion and performance reports, and an external certified auditor's report before reimbursement. The audit checks compliance with the grant terms and economical use of the money for its intended purpose. An export-results report follows 12 months after the project ends.
