Grant for improving building energy ratings
Grants for owners renovating buildings in Geneva canton to improve both building-envelope and overall energy ratings by at least two classes.
Esta oportunidade está atualmente disponível em inglês.
M-10 supports a whole-building renovation that improves both CECB ratings: the performance of the building’s outer surfaces (walls, roof and floors) and its overall energy performance. The smaller improvement determines the grant rate. You must provide a 2023-version CECB certificate and the CECB Plus advisory report for the grant decision, then an updated CECB after work for payment.
For gains of two, three or at least four classes respectively, the rates per square metre of energy-reference floor area (SRE) are CHF 150, 230 or 390 for individual housing; CHF 90, 140 or 210 for collective housing; and CHF 60, 90 or 150 for other building uses. The grant ordinarily cannot exceed 50% of the cost of the related work. Projects with a calculated grant below CHF 1,000 are excluded.
Eligibility
- The building must be in Geneva canton. Eligible owners include individuals, legal entities, autonomous public-law establishments, municipalities and groups of municipalities. Geneva canton itself, the Swiss Confederation and owners exempt from the CO₂ levy are excluded.
- Public buildings and installations are excluded where the cantonal government or parliament can directly influence them through credit allocations. Institutions receiving a global cantonal budget without that direct influence can qualify.
- Support covers work on building elements already heated before renovation. Report the average building energy-consumption index (IDC) for the previous three years to OCEN and obtain the necessary permits.
- M-10 cannot be combined with M-01 to M-09 or M-11 to M-13. The IP-14 and M-15 bonus measures also exclude combination with M-10.
- Landlords must pass the reduction in property costs from the grant into rents. Receiving a grant permanently excludes the rent supplement justified by expected tenant energy-charge savings (BPC) and the tenant energy contribution under the cited LDTR provisions.
How to apply

- OCEN must receive the application at least 14 days before the related work begins. Awards depend on the available budget; complete files are processed in arrival order.[^c5]
Apply for M-10 through Programme Bâtiments. Upload the project information and requested supporting documents, then print the application form, have the owner or authorized representative sign it, and send it to OCEN by post or email with any attachments not uploaded. OCEN must receive the request at least 14 days before the related work starts; demolition needed to replace building elements counts as starting work. Complete files are handled in arrival order within the available budget, and a grant is not an entitlement.
Complete the work and submit the completion file within 24 months after the grant decision takes legal effect. Declare completion online, attach invoices, photos and requested evidence, supply the updated CECB and owner’s bank details, and send the signed completion form to OCEN. Payment follows validation. If needed, send a reasoned extension request at least 30 days before the deadline; OCEN may allow six more months.
Report project changes or delays to OCEN. Changes can reduce the grant; unauthorized work prevents payment, and loss of eligibility can cancel the award. Supply supporting records when OCEN requests them. During the first five operating years, also supply energy-consumption and production data, including IDC, on request. OCEN may inspect funded projects and require repayment for incorrect information.
