EV purchase and lease rebate
GMP customers can receive USD 750–2,500 towards buying or leasing a new or used electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid registered in Vermont.

The rebate reduces the cost of buying or leasing a vehicle for your own use. A participating dealer can apply it as a discount; otherwise, claim it from Green Mountain Power (GMP) after the purchase or lease.
For an all-electric vehicle, a new purchase receives USD 1,500. A new lease or a used purchase or lease receives USD 1,000. For a plug-in hybrid, a new purchase receives USD 1,000; a new lease or a used purchase or lease receives USD 750.
An income-eligible customer buying or leasing a new or used all-electric vehicle can receive an additional USD 1,000. This brings the largest rebate, for a new all-electric purchase, to USD 2,500. The income adder does not apply to plug-in hybrids.
The rebate may be taxable income under federal or state rules. GMP advises consulting a tax professional about its tax consequences.
Eligibility
- You must be a GMP customer with an active account.
- Register the vehicle in Vermont at your GMP service address.
- The vehicle must be for customer use, not resale.
- For a used-vehicle purchase, you cannot claim if you have already received a GMP incentive for that same vehicle.
- The offer covers qualifying vehicles purchased or leased through 31 December 2026. GMP may modify or end it at any time.
For the additional all-electric rebate, GMP uses a household-income chart based on 80% of Vermont statewide median income: USD 66,255 for one person, USD 75,734 for two, USD 85,213 for three, USD 94,672 for four, USD 102,260 for five, USD 109,831 for six, USD 117,399 for seven and USD 124,970 for eight.

Check GMP’s participating-dealer list. If your dealer applies the rebate as a purchase or lease discount, the dealer submits the form and supporting documents and receives the rebate; you have already received the discount.
Otherwise, apply through GMP’s online EV rebate form after your purchase or lease. You need an online GMP account and can create one if needed. Have the vehicle identification number (VIN), make, model and model year, dated dealership proof of purchase or lease, and Vermont DMV registration ready.
A W-9 tax form is required before GMP issues a rebate check. GMP issues rebates after receiving and reviewing completed applications.
