Home heating and cooling rebates
Rebates for residential electric customers installing efficient heat pumps, central air conditioning, thermostats or heat-pump water heaters.
Esta oportunidade está atualmente disponível em inglês.
Get a rebate from Holland Board of Public Works for qualifying equipment in your home. An air-source heat pump earns $1,000 per ton of rated capacity for all-electric home heating, or $500 per ton where the home also has a non-electric heat source. Each route has a $4,000 maximum. For mini-splits, the capacity of the outdoor condenser determines the rebate, rather than the number of indoor units.
Central air conditioning earns $100 at a SEER2 cooling-efficiency rating of 15.2, or $130 at 16 or above. A programmable thermostat earns $50 when installed in a home with central AC or a heat pump. An ENERGY STAR-certified heat-pump water heater earns $300. Rebates cannot exceed the purchase price.
Rebates of $100 or less are credited to the electric account. For larger rebates you can choose an account credit or mailed check; past-due accounts receive a bill credit. Ineligible rebates may be denied or must be repaid.
Eligibility
You must be a Holland BPW residential electric customer, and the equipment must be installed or operated in a residential dwelling served by the utility. Buy new equipment or complete the qualifying project during 2026. Used, refurbished and open-box equipment do not qualify.
- A heat pump must provide the primary heating and cooling and have an HSPF2 seasonal heating-efficiency rating of at least 8.1. For the all-electric rebate, any backup heat must also be electric. A home with a gas furnace or other non-electric heat source uses the dual-fuel rebate.
- The heat pump’s indoor and outdoor models must appear on the invoice, be installed together and have an AHRI rating as a matched system. Supply the certificate confirming the paired equipment’s performance. Holland BPW recommends pre-approval. If you install it yourself, the rebate is limited to the materials purchase price and you need a city or township permit that has passed final inspection.
- Heat-pump heating and cooling rebates cover dwelling spaces. Garages, hobby spaces and outbuildings used for other purposes do not qualify. A separate accessory dwelling may qualify if occupied full-time, with a full bathroom, functioning kitchen and ventilation separate from the main home.
- Central AC must have matched indoor and outdoor equipment installed on the same date. Its AHRI certificate must match the invoice’s model numbers. Heat-pump water heaters require proof of ENERGY STAR efficiency certification.
You cannot receive more than one rebate from the same programme for the same equipment. Signing the application permits installation verification, including a possible site inspection, and requires you to release and indemnify the named programme bodies for claims concerning equipment installation, operation and disposal. This means accepting responsibility for those claims under the application’s declaration.
