Funding for energy renovations in Germany
Loans for whole-building renovations and grants for heating improvements in homes and municipal buildings.
KfW 261 finances renovation to an Efficiency House standard: an energy-performance requirement for the whole building. It also covers qualifying purchases of newly renovated homes. An approved energy-efficiency expert is required, and the loan application goes through a financing partner, such as a bank.
For a heating replacement, there are separate grants for private owners and municipalities.

Borrow up to €120,000 per dwelling for energy improvements to German homes that already have an eligible KfW or BAFA grant approval.

Loans for German municipalities renovating buildings, with possible debt reduction for whole-building work or supplementary borrowing alongside an approved grant for individual improvements.
Supplementary loan for non-residential energy upgrades (523)
Borrow up to €5 million per project for energy improvements to non-residential buildings in Germany that already have an eligible KfW or BAFA grant approval.
